How to erase data from the hard drive?

    This process completely erases them from the hard drive. If you just click Delete or format the disk, this data can then be easily recovered using special tools.

    If the disk is divided into multiple partitions, you should make sure that the data is removed from all partitions.

    First, all the necessary files should be copied to another location. It is important to do this, since later everything will be deleted without the possibility of recovery.     It is easy enough to destroy data from hard drives in Windows 8.1 or 10.

    Select Settings (the gear icon on the Start menu).
    Select Update & Security , then Recovery .
    Select Delete All , then Delete Files and Clean Up Disk .

    If you are using Windows 8 or earlier, you need to download third-party software to completely remove files from your hard drive. It must meet US DoD 5220.22-M drive cleaning requirements. With this software, the process can take several hours (depending on the amount of data on your disk).

    If you have made the decision to part with your hard drive, sell it or transfer it for recycling, then the best solution from a security point of view is to destroy all data beyond recovery.
