    Vivid Ideas Highlights

The beauty of Vivid Sydney lies in the art of creating a fire within the revellers and this is why the festival is not just about colourful patterns and exhilarating music. The creative storytellers are an imperative part of Vivid Sydney and this year's lineup will surely shake the minds of the listeners. World-famous singer-songwriter and pop sensation, Troye Sivan, will share his perception on beauty, creativity, fashion and queer politics at Sydney Town Hall. Another headliner is the fearless Gretchen Carlson, an advocate for women’s rights and the front face of the #MeToo movement and she will join forces with TV superstar Lisa Wilkinson to explore the imbalances of gender power equations, seeking to expose toxic workplace stereotypes. Vivid also lay on other prominent topics such as The Future of Drugs, where the essential ideal is to enlighten the listeners about the potential benefits of psychoactive drugs and medicinal cannabis on the betterment of mental health and the treatment of clinical psychological conditions.

    Central Station– Music Show

Vivid Sydney has a lot of festival firsts in store for us including the longest Light Walk in history, an 8km walking trail that links the Opera House all the way to the Central Station. Right when you get off this heritage railway station you can catch tunes from the Grand Concourse, where a talented lineup of diverse and invigorating artists seek to bring history to this famous location. Groove to the rock n roll psychedelia by the legendary British space-rock band, Spiritualized as they make their triumphant return to the festival, jam to the bluegrass sounds of Sydney’s own The Morrisons and listen to the love tales of  Cope St Parade.

General Tips to enjoy the festival

    • Use public transport. Bring your cars to the harbourside and the road closures and crowds will make it less enjoyable.
    • Consider a cruise if you're not a fan of crowded spaces.
    • Go on Sunday–Monday to get the best shots of the festival.
    • If you're a local avoid seeing everything in one night, remember you have three weeks to explore. Check the website and cover the ones you think are best for you. Although, it'll be tough choosing just a few from them!
