Christmas in Australia might not exactly be what you’ve often seen and heard about! Clearly not “white” as they call it in the west, the Aussie Christmas comes during the summer season. Born and brought up an Aussie, I always look forward to the arrival of summer, and the festivities that follow. Having travelled to more than 20 countries over the years, I stand in awe at how different I and my people are from the rest of the world. And this includes the way we celebrate Christmas which is far removed from the western/conventional ways. If you’re someone who recently moved to the country, I bet you’re excited to see what’s in store for you this summer. Also, if you’ve been looking for foolproof ways to celebrate a hearty Christmas, fret not mate! I have it covered for you.

     Christmas on Sydney Harbour

I know Sydney Harbour might be too cliched a suggestion here. But allow me to convince you why and how this world-famous destination could be a wonderful option to be on the list. The stunning harbourside features a number of waterfront hotels and restaurants which offer Christmas party venues. But one of the options that has always stood out for me is the Christmas party cruises on Sydney Harbour. These cruises offer a fantastic ambience, great food and spectacular views of the harbour attractions. In a few months, we’d start the countdown to the arrival of the most awaited season of joy! And when the time comes for you to contribute to the list of corporate Christmas party venues, grab the opportunity to suggest corporate Christmas party cruises in Sydney and be monikered a ‘true-blue Sydneysider’! I can promise…you won’t be disappointed!

     Christmas at Martin Place

Located at the heart of Sydney CBD is the Martin Place, a pedestrian mall that is also called the ‘heart of the city’. During Christmas, you can come here to see the largest Christmas tree in front of the GPO from November. The tree will be first illuminated in the last week of November by the Lord Mayor, followed by a Christmas concert. The super-sized Christmas tree will be woven with more than 100,000 LED lights, adding to the beauty of the backdrop for selfies, shopping, dining and city strolls.

     Christmas Markets in Sydney

For all the Christmassy and yuletide vibes you need to get going for this upcoming Christmas, the best place to visit is the Christmas markets. There could be many shops that sell the best of Christmas-themed items—from curios and Santa costumes to Christmas cakes and festoons. But for a newbie like you, it could be time-consuming to locate all these places within a short period. In that case, Christmas markets could come as a blessing in disguise. A Christmas market is a one-stop destination for all your shopping needs. Whether you’re looking for places that sell the best Christmas trees or shops with the best collection of gifts, you are sure to find them all at these vibrant markets. Some of the mist-visit Christmas markets are Sydney Vegan Market Christmas Edition and Christmas black markets.

     Christmas at Taronga Zoo

Do animals celebrate Christmas too? Let’s hope they do! Taronga Zoo is one of the prominent tourist destinations in Sydney. On various occasions and special days, the zoo hosts celebrations and parties, inviting a huge throng to the place. People visiting Taronga during Christmas can not only attend a specially curated event but also befriend the furry and feathered friends.  The zoo also hosts a number of animal shows such as the free flight bird show and the seals for the wild show. Since the seats are limited for these shows, you might have to book in early to be a part of the Taronga Zoo celebration.
