Since its inception in 1954, the Sydney Film Festival (SFF) is recognised by many national and international organisations and has increased in size and reputation to a well-known and prominent international film festival in Australia. The festival will be held at the State Theatre, one of Australia’s best theatres as well as cinemas in the CBD, Western Sydney, Newtown, and more.   

     

    Campbelltown City Festival of Fisher’s Ghost

     

    The Campbell Festival of Fisher’s is a quirky yet legendary festival that is steeped in history that dates back to 1956. The festival is held over a period of 10 days in November and it commemorates Australia’s most famous ghost, Frederick Fisher. The legend of Fisher’s ghost can be seen as a popular Australian ghost story. A number of events including the spectacular street parade, Fisher’s Ghost Art Award, the annual Fisher’s Ghost Run, craft exhibitions, street fairs and a giant carnival of fire world happen at this legendary festival in Sydney. You can also stream the 1924 silent film titled Fisher’s Ghost which retells the events of the legend during these days to retouch your memory.  

     

    Cobbitty Village Markets

     

    The Cobbitty Markets is a non-profit organisation that hosts a village market from August to December. This has been a tradition in Cobbitty since May 1982. Over 150 stalls pop up at the market selling an exciting range of gourmet food, crafts and local produce. If you long for a calm evening with your family, head down to the Cobbitty Markets this August for a delicious BBQ breakfast or lunch. You can also enjoy Devonshire teas and a variety of gourmet delicacies. The Cobbitty Markets have a delightful country atmosphere located on the grounds of Cobbitty Public School. The area is covered with lovely shade trees, canopied walkways and more.
