The onset of winter marks the arrival of Vivid Sydney, one of the major cultural festivals in Sydney’s social calendar. Let’s face it, Sydney has been little less colourful for the last two years as the festival had to be stopped in its tracks due to the pandemic but this year marks the triumphant return of Vivid Sydney. With over 200 events planned across 23 days, the event is looking to be bigger and better than ever. If you're as excited as us and are looking to take advantage of this festival, then read along for some info on what to expect!

    Vivid Cruises

This year a large number of artists are contributing to the light installations that pop up around the vast city. Sydney Harbour, housing some of the biggest and prominent  buildings in the city, gets transformed into an illuminating playground and you can enjoy a unique perspective of this spectacle onboard a Vivid Sydney Cruise. From the lighting of the Sails of the Opera House, the lighting up of the Harbour Bridge and everything in between, watch all the harbour fiestas up close. Cruise the harbour on an authentic  paddlewheeler to make it even more breathtaking by combining food, bar and a live cabaret show in the stellar backdrop! This Vivid Dinner Cruise also offers you numerous exclusive photo ops to make your social feed colourful again! So don’t even think twice! Book now!

    Wild Nights

Animal lovers are in for a treat! Taronga Zoo has been in the forefront of wildlife conservation for some time now and for Vivid, they're looking to kick it up a notch with Wild Lights. When the zoo’s furry and scaly friends call it a day, the harbour and the city skyline will be lit up by 14 animal species from land, sky and ocean, in glowing lanterns, including echidnas, koalas and even lions! The collaborators have joined forces once again to shed light on the importance of creating a shared future where wild species and wild spaces can make a return. Enjoy an after-dark safari experience in the zoo after which you get to spend overnight inside a tent with only the soundscapes of different animals as background!

    Music

Vivid Sydney 2022 has been in the making for some time now. By pushing boundaries and sharing the stores of the city’s creative roots, the festival is projected to be the biggest of its kind! Vivid Music plays a huge role in this acclaim by hosting an eclectic program of music performances in new and surprising locations across the city. Catch local and international acts in these locations, spend the evening at the Sydney Supper Club, where fan favourites Emma Pask, Bob Downe, Mahalia Barnes and more perform inside an intimate cabaret lounge. One can also stop by at Tumbalong Park along the Light Walk to take part in some of the festival's free concerts featuring Australia’s major artists as well as Sydney’s up and coming superstars. The Grand Concourse at Central Station also lights up every Saturday to welcome the Vivid Sydney Brass Band and other acts from the Morrisons, Lolo Lovina and Cope St. Parade!

    Sydney Infinity

If you're short on time there’s one thing you don’t want to miss, the biggest ever liquid and light show. With more than a hundred jets and water cannons and impressive LEDs, this water fountain will be bursting 80 metres of water into the air. Designed by Sydney’s own creative artists Peewee Ferris, Sydney Infinity will be synced to uplifting soundtracks. It is an ideal stop on your way home from work or while you enjoy a bite along the water’s edge. The floating walkway is your best vantage point as it will get you closer than ever to these flying towers of water!
